Job summary

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level or equivalent.
• Possession of a recognised teaching qualification.
• Successful recent experience of running a course or courses.
• Evidence of motivating learners and developing and maintaining high levels of student retention and achievement.
• Demonstrates understanding of the learning environment and support for learners of varying ability.
• Experience of setting targets and monitoring progress against those targets.
• Experience of managing quality improvement.
• Experience of operating disciplinary procedures with students.
• Experience of managing and mentoring staff.
• Experience of managing physical and financial resources.
• Knowledge of FE curriculum issues within 14-19 age group.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and develop the curriculum team, overseeing programme managers to ensure effective leadership within the department.
• Foster a culture of high expectations among staff and students promoting excellence and continuous development.
• Equitably delegate leadership responsibilities and implement individualised learning schemes across courses.
• Participate in staff appointments, induction, performance evaluations, and address staff concerns.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to manage resources and monitor expenditure with cross-department communication.
• Implement Teaching, Learning and Assessment Framework to enhance learner outcomes across the department.
• Establish procedures and resources to uphold high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment.
• Identify and monitor at-risk students and implement targeted support strategies.
• Review provision via Quality Cycle and develop action plans to improve teaching and learner outcomes.
• Disseminate good practice and contribute to cross-training and knowledge sharing.
• Develop links with stakeholders to broaden subjects offered and improve student achievement.
• Collaborate with external stakeholders to align curriculum with local community needs and LSIP.
