Job summary

Dovetail and Slate in Berkshire invites a Head of Structural Technologies to lead the Structural Technologies department within Built Environment, Construction & Engineering. You will manage staff, deliver high-quality teaching, and shape the curriculum.

Reporting to Curriculum Director, you will drive academic quality, budget management, staff development, and employer-aligned progression across construction and electrical installations. This is a senior, strategic post for an ambitious leader.

Qualifications

• Essential: degree level or equivalent Level 6 qualification in a relevant field.
• Essential: Level 5 teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DET, or equivalent).
• Desirable: Assessor TAQA/A1 or IQA awards.
• Desirable: Management or leadership qualification (CMI/ILM Level 5).

Responsibilities

• Provide line management to departmental staff and conduct performance reviews.
• Embed Teaching, Learning, and Assessment Framework and monitor SAR/QIP.
• Shape and modernize the curriculum to meet regional skills and LSIP.
• Manage budgets and oversee learning spaces and safety compliance.
• Support student success and collaborate with central teams.
