Job summary

Ormiston NEW Academy, part of Ormiston Academies Trust, Wolverhampton, seeks a Head of Department to lead the strategic direction, development and day-to-day management of their subject area, driving teaching excellence and student achievement.

As a key member of the middle leadership team, the Head of Department will be responsible for the strategic direction, development, and day-to-day management of their subject area, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning, and student achievement. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, a collaborative approach, and a clear vision for curriculum development and departmental growth.

Ormiston NEW Academy caters for 11 to 19 year olds. With 1,066 students on roll, we provide a vibrant learning environment with first-class facilities. NEWA has undergone an OFSTED inspection under the new framework and are beyond proud to announce that we have been awarded a strong grading in four areas: attendance and behaviour, inclusion, leadership and governance, and personal development and wellbeing. In the remaining three areas, we are meeting the expected standard. The new framework is deliberately more ambitious, with higher expectations set for schools across all areas. As a result, meeting the expected standard reflects a stronger benchmark than under previous inspection arrangements.
