Head of Risk and Compliance (SMF4/SMF16) – International Bank – London

We are currently partnering with a growing international bank based in London to appoint a Head of Risk and Compliance, a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing the bank’s UK risk and regulatory compliance framework. This permanent role will carry SMF4 (Chief Risk Officer) and SMF16 (Compliance Oversight) responsibilities, subject to FCA/PRA approval.

Lead the bank’s risk management and compliance framework across all UK operations.
Hold SMF4 and SMF16 functions, maintaining regulatory approval and accountability.
Manage ongoing engagement with the FCA and PRA, including oversight of ICAAP, ILAAP, and the bank’s Recovery Plan.
Foster a robust compliance culture and deliver regular updates to the CEO and Board.
Embed best practice in enterprise risk, operational risk, and financial crime compliance.
10+ years’ experience in risk and/or compliance, preferably within a small or international bank.
Proven or eligible holder of SMF4/SMF16 functions.
Deep understanding of UK banking regulation, operational risk, and financial crime controls.
Excellent communicator with experience advising at Board level.
Practical, hands-on leadership style suited to a dynamic environment.
