Job summary

Foster & May, a national Construction Consultancy, is recruiting a Head of Planning to lead the planning function for major infrastructure and utilities projects in the UK. Based in Manchester with hybrid working, this senior role offers strategic influence and ownership of planning delivery.

You will develop the planning team, build client relationships, and identify opportunities to grow planning services.

Qualifications

Significant experience in planning or project controls within construction, infrastructure or major projects.
Strong technical understanding of programme development, baselines and critical path.
Experience contributing to business development and client relationships.
Ability to communicate complex programmes to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience leading and developing planning professionals.

Responsibilities

Lead the planning function across major projects, providing technical leadership.
Oversee development and maintenance of robust project programmes.
Provide senior planning input to project teams and clients.
Review programme performance, critical path, float and delays.
Collaborate with project, commercial, design, procurement and construction teams to reflect delivery.
Develop planning standards and ways of working across the business.
Mentor and develop planners within the team.
