Job summary

Building Careers UK Ltd in Manchester is seeking an experienced Senior Planner to join a well-established organisation delivering major programmes across the power and energy sector. You will develop robust project schedules and monitor delivery to keep projects on track.

You will work closely with clients and delivery teams, review contractor programmes and mentor junior planners, while promoting best practice in planning and schedule governance across the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in project planning for construction, infrastructure or major capital projects.
• Strong knowledge of Primavera P6; Microsoft Project experience is advantageous.
• Excellent scheduling, analysis and reporting capabilities.
• Understanding of project controls, governance and planning methodologies.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proactive, solutions-focused approach with ability to influence delivery.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and update detailed project programmes using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
• Monitor performance by analysing progress, critical paths, milestones and schedules.
• Identify delays, risks and opportunities, implementing mitigation strategies.
• Prepare programme reports, updates and dashboards for teams and clients.
• Review contractor programmes and contribute to governance and controls.
• Collaborate with project managers, contractors, consultants and clients.
• Promote best practice in planning and scheduling across the project.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to junior planners.
