Job summary

Foster & May in Manchester seeks a Senior Head of Planning to lead the planning function across major infrastructure and construction projects. The role combines technical leadership with client engagement and business development in a hybrid working environment.

You will develop the planning team, oversee programmes, manage stakeholders and help secure new opportunities while delivering high-quality planning input for complex projects.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in planning or project controls within construction, infrastructure or major projects.
• Strong understanding of project planning, baselines, critical path, float, progress measurement and recovery planning.
• Experience contributing to business development and building client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning function, providing technical leadership and direction across projects.
• Oversee development, review and maintenance of robust project programmes.
• Provide senior planning input on complex projects and deliver clear, practical advice to teams and clients.
• Review programme performance including critical path, float, progress and delays.
• Collaborate with project, commercial, design, procurement and construction teams to align programmes with delivery.
• Provide planning input into programme change and delay matters as required.
• Develop consistent planning standards, processes and ways of working across the business.
• Lead, mentor and develop planners and create progression opportunities within the team.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
