Job summary

Focus Group is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead the end-to-end payroll across a fast-growing group of companies. This is a hands-on, high-impact role with responsibility for accurate processing, compliance, and pension administration.

You will manage a small payroll team, collaborate with stakeholders across the group, and help integrate new acquisitions into the group payroll system. The role requires pace, process improvement, and strong UK payroll knowledge.

Qualifications

• Experience running payroll for a multi-entity group with multiple PAYE schemes.
• Experience migrating acquisitions onto a group payroll.
• Knowledge of UK payroll legislation (NMW, SSP, NI) and RTI.
• Hands-on with payroll systems transitions, upgrades, and testing.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and the ability to advise staff and managers.
• Line management experience and developing a payroll team.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end monthly payroll processing across the group.
• Maintain payroll system administration and migrations, upgrades, and testing.
• Ensure 100% compliance with statutory deadlines and reporting.
• Liaise with HMRC and pension providers for accurate reporting.
• Lead year-end payroll processes (P60, P11D) and related duties.
• Develop and automate starter/leaver workflows and data changes.
