Job Purpose
As Head of Operations, you will be a key member of our Senior Management Team, working closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to ensure the smooth and effective running of all operational aspects of the organisation. This role requires a forward-thinking, strategic leader who thrives on innovation, collaboration, and impact.
Your responsibilities will span strategic leadership, operational excellence, performance management, and business development, all while embedding a culture of inclusion and excellence across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
• Design and implement operational strategies, plans, and processes to drive growth, innovation, and excellence.
• Integrate AI and technology-driven systems to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.
• Collaborate with the CEO and senior leaders to translate strategic goals into actionable plans.
Operational Management
• Oversee daily operations, including IT, Programmes, Communications, and Finance, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.
• Develop, monitor, and report on operational KPIs to measure success and inform decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, legal, and ethical standards.
Performance and Team Management
• Set and track performance goals for teams and individual staff members.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing work culture.
• Lead recruitment, onboarding, and professional development initiatives.
Business Development and Fundraising
• Identify and pursue new opportunities for partnerships, fundraising, and revenue generation.
• Support the CEO in building and maintaining strategic relationships with key stakeholders.
• Play a key role in grant applications, corporate sponsorships, and donor engagement efforts.
Data-Driven Decision-Making
• Leverage data and performance metrics to assess the impact of programmes and initiatives.
• Identify areas for improvement and implement evidence-based solutions.
Innovation and Technology
• Introduce and maintain AI/technology-driven solutions to enhance operations and programme delivery.
• Stay ahead of emerging trends and technologies, applying them to drive organisational success.
Skills and Qualifications
We are seeking a visionary leader who is passionate about making a difference:
Essential Skills and Experience:
• Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within a nonprofit, social enterprise, or mission-driven organisation.
• Strong understanding of core business functions, including HR, Finance, Marketing, and Operations.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic plans.
• Experience in integrating AI or technology-driven systems to optimise efficiency.
• Proficiency in data analysis and using metrics for decision-making.
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with a track record of driving cultural and organisational change.
• Excellent organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills, including public speaking.
• Knowledge of IT systems, business infrastructure, and MS Office applications.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
• Experience in fundraising, grant management, or working within the charity sector.
• Familiarity with the challenges faced by underrepresented communities and a passion for addressing economic inequalities.
• A BSc/BA in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field (MSc/MBA preferred).
Working Conditions
• Location: Hybrid role, combining virtual work and in-person collaboration in London.
• Flexibility: Some evening or weekend work may occasionally be required to meet deadlines.
