Guy’s and St Thomas’ is among the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts. Evelina London cares for local children in Lambeth and Southwark and provides specialist services across south east England including cardiac, renal and critical care services. We lead a number of specialist service networks aiming to ensure children are treated locally where possible, but have access to specialist expertise when they need it. Our community services include health visiting, school nursing and support for families of children with long-term conditions.
Our adult community services teams deliver care at the heart of the local communities we serve, working in partnership with GPs, local authorities and other healthcare and voluntary sector organisations. Working with our partners in Lambeth and Southwark, we are focusing on new ways of working to improve care for local patients.
In February 2021 the Royal Brompton and Harefield joined Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, bringing together world-leading expertise in the care and research of heart and lung disease. Our merger provides a once in a generation opportunity to build a lasting, world-renowned heart and lung centre, providing the highest quality care for patients and conducting world-leading research.

We are looking for a talented, passionate and experienced nurse leader who can demonstrate strong operational and strategic leadership, with the ability to communicate effectively across multi-professional boundaries as well as create a strong culture of learning, caring and compassion.
The Head of Nursing will work as part of the Directorate's triumvirate management structure alongside the Clinical Director and General Manager to deliver our strategic, quality and transformational objectives.
You will need to have experience of leading clinical services, preferably demonstrating some theatre experience, as well as a proven track record of putting safety, quality and patient experience at the heart of all you do.
The role also supports on the delivery of partnership working across other clinical groups to ensure effective pathways and processes are in place to support patients and staff across the Trust.
The Theatres and Perioperative Directorate leads a number of services including 45 theatres and a Trust wide Pre-operative assessment Service which supports all surgical specialities across the organisation.
The directorate employs over 1000 staff made up of diverse range of professions including Nurses, ODP's, Technical staff, Anaesthetics, Allied Health Professionals and Admin and Clerical staff.
Leadership & Performance Management
In partnership with the Clinical Director and General Manager, provide leadership to all Directorate staff, ensuring clear communication of Trust and Directorate values, vision, priorities and expectations to ensure the engagement of teams to deliver services of the highest quality.
In partnership with the Clinical Director provide professional and clinical leadership to Directorate staff.
In partnership with the Clinical Director and General Manager, develop and deliver the strategy and performance management of clinical services, holding service operational management teams to account for delivery of their service objectives and performance through regular performance review meetings.
Joint responsibility with the General Manager to manage the highly complex nature of the business area and ensuing that the appropriate strategic plans are delivered within the complex operating framework.
