Job summary

Qualifications

• Extensive experience across mortgage origination, underwriting and portfolio management.
• Strong understanding of responsible lending and mortgage operations.
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks including MCOB and FCA requirements.
• Proven experience leading high-performing operational teams and coaching colleagues.
• Ability to interpret MI and KPIs to identify trends and risks.

Responsibilities

• Shape and deliver the Mortgage Origination and Underwriting strategy.
• Lead, motivate and develop high-performing teams.
• Maintain robust underwriting standards and oversight and ensure compliance.
• Drive operational efficiency and continuous improvement across mortgage journeys.
• Use data and performance insights to identify trends and manage risks.
• Lead change initiatives and transformation programmes.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and strong governance controls.
• Build strong relationships with brokers, solicitors, valuation partners and risk/compliance teams.
• Oversee third-party suppliers and outsourced services to ensure service quality.
• Champion operational resilience and business continuity.
