Position
An overview of the role

The Head of Marketing is ultimately responsible for developing and implementing a Group Marketing Strategy that is aligned to the Group Sales Strategy and to Open GI's transformation into a SaaS software provider. This strategy should ensure Open GI’s strategic messaging and overall proposition are communicated effectively. Product marketing is at the heart of this role. The Head of Marketing will build and lead a team that owns positioning, packaging, launch and adoption across a subscription software portfolio, and measures its contribution in pipeline, ARR and net revenue retention.

Your key responsibilities
1. Marketing Strategy & Business Alignment
  • Define and own Open GI's marketing strategy, ensuring alignment with company objectives and growth priorities.
  • Translate business goals into clear marketing priorities, plans and measurable outcomes.
  • Act as a strategic partner to Sales, Product and Customer Success leadership teams.
  • Ensure marketing activity remains focused on agreed strategic priorities and commercial impact.
2. Commercial Growth & Market Development
  • Ensure marketing contributes to customer acquisition, product adoption, retention and customer growth.
  • Establish clear measurement frameworks to demonstrate marketing's contribution to pipeline generation and business performance.
  • Support the development of integrated go-to-market strategies for priority products and propositions.
  • Champion customer-centric marketing approaches that improve engagement and long‑term customer value.
  • Drive alignment between marketing activity and commercial objectives.
  • Support the shift from professional services revenue to recurring subscription revenue, contributing to pricing, packaging and tiering decisions alongside Product and Finance.
  • Build lifecycle and demand generation programmes that support land‑and‑expand, cross‑sell, upsell and renewal across the installed base.
3. Market Positioning, Brand & Communications
  • Own Open GI's market positioning and overall brand strategy.
  • Ensure consistent and compelling messaging across all customer and market‑facing communications.
  • Lead strategic communications activity, including corporate communications, PR and thought leadership.
  • Protect and strengthen Open GI's reputation across all external channels and stakeholder groups.
  • Support executive visibility and thought leadership programmes.
  • Act as the guardian of Open GI's brand, ensuring consistency across all customer touchpoints.
4. Product & Go-To-Market Leadership
  • Build and lead the product marketing function as the core discipline of the marketing team, covering positioning, messaging, packaging, launch management and sales enablement across Open GI's portfolio.
  • Ensure product positioning, messaging and go‑to‑market plans support business objectives.
  • Work closely with Product teams to align customer insight, market opportunity and commercial priorities.
  • Support successful product launches, customer adoption and market engagement.
  • Ensure customer and market insight is embedded within strategic decision making.
  • Own buyer and user personas, competitive intelligence and win/loss analysis, and make them usable by Sales and Product.
  • Operate a tiered launch process, so that every release is matched to the right level of market, customer and internal activity.
  • Equip Sales with the narrative, collateral, demo messaging and objection handling needed to sell a subscription proposition.
  • Partner with Customer Success on in‑product and lifecycle messaging that drives activation, adoption and retention.
5. Marketing Performance & Insight
  • Establish and maintain a marketing measurement framework built on SaaS metrics, including pipeline coverage, MQL‑to‑SQL conversion, CAC payback, ARR growth, net revenue retention and product activation and adoption.
  • Monitor performance across demand generation, customer engagement, market positioning and marketing effectiveness.
  • Provide regular reporting and insight to the Executive Team and senior stakeholders.
  • Use data, customer insight and market intelligence to inform strategic decisions.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and evidence‑based decision making.
  • Lead, develop and inspire a high‑performing marketing team.
  • Foster a collaborative, commercially focused and customer‑centric culture.
  • Support professional development and capability building across the team.
  • Build capability in product marketing, demand generation and marketing operations, and identifying where skills need to be developed or recruited.
  • Champion innovation, experimentation and the effective use of AI and the SaaS marketing stack, including CRM, marketing automation, product analytics and attribution.
