Job summary

Swi-tch is supporting NewCold to recruit a Head of IT, UK Operations, to lead the UK IT agenda for two automated cold stores. The role is Wakefield or Corby based with hybrid options and a competitive package including a car allowance and bonus.

You will manage 24/7 IT service delivery across two sites (WMS/TMS, EDI, SQL, networking) and drive IT governance, disaster recovery testing, and roadmap alignment with NewCold’s global IT organisation.

• Senior IT leadership experience in 24/7 logistics or manufacturing environments.
• Deep technical depth respected by engineers, with delivery focus.
• Experience building governance, service management, and disaster recovery testing.

Responsibilities

• Own 24/7 IT service across two sites: WMS/TMS, EDI, SQL, networking, interfaces to automation.
• Establish ITIL-grade governance, UK IT Steering Group, SLA reporting, and tested disaster recovery.
• Lead a team of five to six, foster local ownership, and reduce key-person dependency.
• Represent the UK IT voice in NewCold's global IT organisation and influence roadmap and investments.

Swi-tch have been retained to support NewCold in the appointment of a Head of IT, UK Operations.

Some IT jobs run laptops and printers. This one runs the technology behind two of the most advanced automated cold stores in the world.

Wakefield or Corby based, with hybrid options

NewCold is one of the fastest-growing names in global cold chain logistics: automated high-bay warehouses, 24/7 operations, and long-term partnerships with some of the biggest food producers in the market. The UK has grown to the point where it needs its own senior IT leadership. This role exists because the business is scaling, not because someone left a gap.

You will own:

• The 24/7 IT service across both sites: WMS/TMS, EDI, SQL, networking, and the interfaces to the automation
• Governance built properly: ITIL-grade service management, a UK IT Steering Group, SLA reporting, and disaster recovery that gets tested
• A capable, hard-working team of five to six: development plans, growing local ownership, reducing key-person dependency
• The UK's voice into NewCold's global IT organisation in the Netherlands: shaping the roadmap and winning investment

You bring senior IT leadership from 24/7 logistics, supply chain, manufacturing, or similar automated environments, real technical depth engineers respect, and a calm, hands-on, delivery-focused style.

The UK footprint is set to grow substantially over the coming years, and this role is built to grow with it.
