Job summary

NewCold is recruiting a Head of IT for the UK to lead the IT function across our automated cold-chain sites, ensuring stable operations and acting as the main link between UK operations and the global IT organisation.

You will oversee 24/7 support, consent on-call rota standards, and governance for incident, change, and problem management as part of a growing, global organisation.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of WMS/TMS platforms and warehouse automation systems.
• Experience with SQL or Progress DB troubleshooting and data analysis.
• Solid grounding in EDI standards, mapping, and integration flows.
• Good knowledge of network infrastructure, including switching, VLANs, and Wi-Fi.
• Experience with ITIL processes and service management tooling such as TopDesk.
• Proven leadership of IT teams within 24/7 operational environments.
• Strong stakeholder management across operations, commercial, and global IT teams.
• Excellent communication skills, translating technical detail into clear business language.
• Experience working directly with external customers on IT issues and root cause analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead and modernise the UK IT function across automated cold-chain sites, ensuring stable operations and serving as the link between UK operations and global IT.
• Deliver first and second line support across MLS, TMS, MFCS and automation, EDI, infrastructure, and site technology.
• Ensure 24/7 support coverage, on-call rota oversight, and incident triage standards.
• Maintain high availability of systems supporting cranes, monorails, buffers, and customer integrations; establish governance structures.
• Build local technical capability in SQL/Progress DB, EDI integration, automation systems, and networking.
• Own infrastructure lifecycle planning, cyber security posture, and disaster recovery testing.
• Act as senior IT contact for key UK customers and improve proactive incident communication.
• Lead, coach, and develop the UK IT team with skills matrices, PDPs, and succession planning.

Shift Pattern
This is a hybrid role withregular on-site presence required at both Corby and Wakefield. The successfulcandidate will hold accountability for on-call escalation rota quality,although this is not a first-line on-call position. Flexibility will be requiredduring major incidents or customer-critical events, along with occasionaltravel to Breda and other European sites.
Location
Based at Corby site, with regular travel between Corby and Wakefield and occasional travel to Breda,Netherlands.

Job Responsibilities
