JR United Kingdom is seeking a Head of Estates Engineering Services to lead the strategic direction of engineering services for the Royal Ballet and Opera. This role demands proven leadership in engineering within a complex operational estate, focusing on exceptional service delivery and stakeholder engagement. Lead the strategic direction of all aspects of engineering services, fostering a culture of exceptional service delivery focused on enhancing the visitor experience.
The estate of the Royal Ballet & Opera comprises three sites: the main site in Covent Garden, which includes a 2,000+ seated theatre dating from 1858, along with redeveloped stage, rehearsal rooms, dressing rooms, workshops, offices, and ancillary spaces, completed in 1999; a second theatre and refreshed front-of-house spaces delivered via the Open Project in 2018; the Production Workshop and Costume Centre in Thurrock, Essex; and a 14,000m2 store in Aberdare, Wales.
These facilities support a complex production schedule and enable 1,000s of staff, artists, and creative personnel to stage opera and ballet to exacting standards.
The Head of Estates Engineering Services will oversee strategic planning and delivery of engineering services across all Royal Ballet and Opera sites. Responsibilities include building and fabric maintenance, utilities, installation, capital works engineering, and energy-saving and carbon-reduction projects.
We seek an individual with proven leadership in engineering services within a comparable, live operational estate portfolio. The ideal candidate will have outstanding stakeholder engagement and team leadership skills, with a proactive and engaging approach.
