Job summary

Liverpool City Council is seeking a Head of Development Management for Strategic Projects and Major Planning Applications. You will lead the Strategic Projects and Major Applications teams, directing development management and policy delivery to meet the council’s growth ambitions.

You will work with the City Development directorate and external partners to ensure high-quality developments across Liverpool, while advising senior managers and deputising at key meetings.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Strategic Projects and Major Applications teams across the Planning Teams.
• Drive the effective delivery of planning applications from submission through negotiation, determination and to implementation.
• Collaborate with City Development directorate and other council services to deliver strategically important projects.
• Meet strategic developers to ensure best quality of development and council growth ambitions.
• Provide advice to senior managers and deputise at key meetings.
• Assess enquiries that could lead to strategic and complex planning applications.
• Coordinate with partners like the Combined Authority and Homes England in line with national priorities.
