Wernick Refurbished Buildings in York is seeking a Head of Design, Technical & Estimating to lead the Design, Technical and Estimating function. You will guide a team to deliver accurate estimates, compliant designs and practical, cost-effective solutions for our modular building projects.
The role requires strong estimating leadership, commercial awareness and the ability to develop a high-performing team while driving profitability and process improvement across the department.

Position: Head of Design, Technical & Estimating
We are looking for an experienced leader to manage our Design, Technical and Estimating team in York. This is a hands‑on management role focused on improving performance, supporting profitable sales growth and ensuring the team delivers accurate estimates and practical technical solutions.
The successful candidate will bring strong estimating experience, commercial awareness and the ability to lead and develop a high‑performing team.

- Lead and manage the Design, Technical and Estimating team.

- Ensure compliance with Building Regulations, fire standards and industry requirements.
- Review designs and identify potential risks or issues.

- Identify problems quickly and implement effective solutions.
- Monitor departmental performance and implement improvements.
- Significant estimating experience within construction, modular buildings or offsite construction.

- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of Building Regulations, fire compliance and design standards.
- Experience within the modular or portable building sector.
- Experience leading a combined Design, Technical and Estimating function.
- Relevant construction, engineering or management qualification.
