Role Overview

We’re hiring a Head of Data Architecture to design and lead the buildout of a state-of-the-art data platform that powers our strategies, research, risk systems, and real-time intelligence. This is a foundational role—you’re not just laying pipes, you’re architecting the nervous system of a fast-moving, crypto-native trading and investment firm.

You’ll work at the intersection of quant research, trading, and engineering to build an end-to-end data stack that supports streaming ingestion, distributed compute, advanced analytics, and machine learning. The ideal candidate is deeply technical, highly pragmatic, and excited to shape the data foundation of one of the most sophisticated firms in digital assets.

Key Responsibilities

Architect the Core Data Platform:

• Design a modern data architecture that supports real-time, batch, and event-driven pipelines.
• Define and enforce standards for ingestion, cataloging, modeling, access control, and data lineage.
• Build resilient abstractions for market, execution, blockchain, and internal operational data.

Technical Leadership:

• Lead the evaluation and deployment of technologies such as Iceberg, Kafka, Arrow, Spark/Flink, DuckDB, Ray, and dbt.
• Implement robust schema evolution, observability, and governance strategies.
• Balance low-latency demands with high availability and system resilience.
• Collaborate with leadership to align the data platform roadmap with business, trading, and research goals.
• Own the architectural vision for self-service analytics, feature engineering, and ML ops.
• Scale the platform to handle multi-exchange, multi-chain data across globally distributed teams.

Governance & Reliability:

• Establish access controls, data quality, and security frameworks to safeguard proprietary data.
• Build infrastructure for real-time system monitoring, data freshness tracking, and anomaly detection.

Qualifications & Experience

Must-Have Experience:

• 7+ years in data architecture or data engineering, preferably in trading, crypto, or finance.
• Deep understanding of modern data lakehouse patterns (Iceberg/Delta, object storage, columnar formats).
• Expertise in real-time and batch data processing tools (Kafka, Flink, Spark, Airflow).
• Experience building low-latency, high-availability systems in distributed environments.
• Proficiency with modern tooling (e.g., dbt, Great Expectations, Kubernetes, Terraform, etc.)

Nice to have:

• Experience with DeFi protocols, blockchain data, or exchange APIs.
• Familiarity with quant research workflows and feature stores.
• Ability to model complex time-series and event-driven data.
