Head of Commercial

Location: Bristol, Nottingham, Swansea

Salary: £67,313 - £74,406 per annum (plus a Recruitment and Retention Allowance of £4000 for MCIPS members)

Do you have significant experience in a senior commercial role leading a team?

The Role

This senior commercial position offers a chance to join the leadership team managing third-party services for over 4000 staff with a contract portfolio worth £1,007 million.

The role focuses on delivering value-for-money arrangements, fostering effective commercial partnerships, and managing third-party supplier relationships.

The commercial team operates via a category management model supporting strategic objectives through the entire commercial cycle: pre-procurement, procurement, and contract management.

The role will lead the following categories:

  • Digital and Technology Services
  • Theory Test Services

These involve procuring digital resources, IT infrastructure, software, hardware, digital services, and Theory Test services.

Additional responsibilities include managing Commercial MI and Data, ensuring its accuracy and strategic value to the organisation, and continuously improving the Commercial MI and Data Strategy.

  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (MCIPS) or equivalent
  • Significant experience leading a commercial team in a senior role
  • Ability to work creatively in a dynamic environment
  • Knowledge of the commercial cycle and public sector procurement
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and management skills
