Head of Business Development - Personal Injury

We're a national law firm with a local reach. Our philosophy is 'we're legal and financial experts that care' - something you'll find in the way we work with our clients and how we support our teams. But we're more than just a law firm - we're a team of people working together to help individuals and businesses navigate life's ups and downs. Working here you'll feel a part of our friendly and inclusive environment.

We'll value you for who you are and what you bring. We support each other and push boundaries to achieve incredible things and make a real difference to our clients and communities.

An opportunity has arisen for a talented Head of Business Development to join our Business Development & Marketing team based from one of our regional offices.

Your Role and What You'll Be Doing

The Head of Business Development is responsible for planning, directing, and managing business development activities to support growth in Personal Injury. This role ensures outcomes are delivered to achieve business and strategic goals.

  1. You will drive business development strategies for the business unit with a strategic aim of maximising profitable revenue, building new business pipelines, and increasing share of wallet from existing clients.
  2. Develop and implement international business strategies to expand the firm's global footprint.
  3. Work collaboratively with other Heads of BD and M to maximise opportunities and outcomes for the group.
  4. You will lead a high-performing team, continuously developing, retaining and recruiting talent.
  5. Set clear objectives and PDP plans for each team member to maximize individual, team, and divisional performance.
  6. Implementation of Key Account Management programs with action plans to achieve objectives, conduct research and share knowledge across the firm.
  7. You will utilise reporting systems and data insights for ROI, including tracking and monitoring of activity.
  8. Management of the business development budgets to ensure value for money and assess ROI to inform future activity and strategy.
  9. Support the overall process of management and corporate decision-making to ensure the organisation maximises its short, medium, and long-term profitability.
  10. Work with and support Partners by developing presentations and proposal documents, accompanying partners on new business pitches, and providing strategic direction.
  11. Identify and anticipate future trends in bid/tender opportunities and advise on strategies to capitalise on these opportunities.

About You

We're looking for a Head of Business Development who has demonstrable experience designing and achieving strategic and business development goals. Our ideal candidate will have the following:
  1. The ability to inspire and engage others to get the best out of their team.
  2. Demonstrable experience of recruiting, developing and coaching a high performing team.
  3. The ability to look ahead, anticipate, enable and capitalise on opportunities and challenges.
  4. Demonstrable experience working in a senior business development role, relevant to Personal Injury.
  5. The ability to interpret and make effective use of data to make sound decisions and encourage others to do so.
  6. You will thrive on change, challenge the status quo, and constantly look for new opportunities to do things better.
  7. Demonstrable experience of working in a multi-disciplined marketing and business development team, within a medium/large organisation.
  8. You are obsessive about client care, constantly seeking to delight the client. You will lead by example and encourage others to give outstanding client service.
If this sounds like you and you want to join a thriving team hit the apply button below for consideration!

Our Benefits - What We Can Offer You

  1. 25 days holidays as standard plus bank holidays - You can 'buy' up to 35hrs of extra holiday too.
  2. Generous and flexible pension schemes.
  3. Volunteering days - Two days of volunteering every year for a cause of your choice (fully paid).
  4. Westfield Health membership, offering refunds on medical services alongside our Aviva Digital GP services.
We also offer a wide range of well-being initiatives to encourage positive mental health both in and out of the workplace and to make sure you're fully supported. This includes our Flexible by Choice programme which gives our colleagues more choice over a hybrid way of working subject to role, team and client requirements.

We have been ranked in the Best Workplaces for Wellbeing for Large Organisations for 2024!

Our commitment to Social Responsibility, community investment activity and tackling climate change is a fundamental part of who we are. It's made up of four strands: Our People, Our Community, Our Environment and Our Pro Bono.
