Job summary

Hull College is seeking a visionary Head of Building Technologies to lead our Plumbing, Construction and Brickwork provision and elevate the curriculum to meet industry needs in Hull. This role will guide strategic direction and develop a high‑impact learning experience for vocational learners.

As Head of Building Technologies, you will lead staff, shape the curriculum in partnership with the Assistant Principal, ensure effective planning and timetabling, and drive improvements in teaching,

Qualifications

• Relevant teaching qualification and subject specialism.
• Significant FE teaching experience.
• Experience leading cross‑department themes such as student engagement, progress, assessment and IQA.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership for staff within the department.
• Shape and manage the curriculum offer in collaboration with the Assistant Principal and other Institute Heads.
• Ensure effective planning, resourcing and timetabling of all courses.
• Drive improvements in teaching, learning and assessment with coaching and performance reviews.
• Oversee departmental budgets and ensure effective financial management.
• Represent the College at internal and external meetings, including occasional evenings/weekends.
