About The Role

The Analytics Team is spread right across the Partnership, using advanced analytics to help stakeholders solve problems and make better decisions.

This Head of Analytics role is focused on the JL Customer, WR Customer and pan-Partnership Customer teams. You will be responsible for maximising value to the Partnership from the team by bringing together:

  • Deep knowledge of various analytical and visualisation techniques. You will be an expert in this area and will also understand how new, emerging tools and capabilities could add value to the Partnership
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills to ensure the team are working on the most value adding opportunities, making sure we are making the right contribution to those initiatives and ensuring the work has the right impact
  • Strong people management to develop, engage and grow the capability of your team .

As a member of the wider Data, Insight & Analytics (DI&A) Leadership team you will also share collective responsibility for ensuring that business requirements are met and to mentor people managers to deliver an excellent Partner experience. You will provide thought leadership and be an ambassador for DI&A, helping to prove its value across the business.

At a glance

Flexible working: This is a hybrid working role, therefore your time will primarily be split between working from home and the London/ Head Office. However, there will also be an expectation to visit other locations as the need arises.

Our team currently works from the office at least once a week to connect and on a more ad-hoc basis to attend key meetings, but again the frequency is dependent on the business needs.

Expected Salary - £74,900 - £110,000 (depending upon experience)

Contract type - This position is an FTC for up to 12 months

What you will do:

As a Head of Analytics, you will work across various parts of the Partnership to maximise value from your team. You will be accountable for delivery, timeliness and analytical rigour of your team’s projects while also working collaboratively with stakeholders and other teams as required.

Day to day you will:

  • Deliver maximum commercial value from your Analytics Team using relevant visualisation, diagnostic, predictive and optimisation techniques
  • Increase that value over time through building capability, new techniques and influencing strategy, ensuring alignment to the Portfolio and Partnership’s priorities
  • Be accountable for your team’s output in terms of timely delivery, quality, accuracy, methodology, recommendations, clarity, impact, sustainability and compliance
  • Triangulate recommendations with other sources e.g. Research and Insight, Data Science
  • Have a good understanding of your stakeholders’ commercial strategies and goals and wider Portfolio plans
  • Be proactive in identifying where analytics can add value, taking a strategic view over 3, 6 and 12 months and align with stakeholders and the Planning Lead to build those opportunities into the workplan
  • Communicate complex analytical methods clearly and concisely through engaging narratives to encourage adoption, shape decisions, and achieve measurable results
  • Work closely with other CTTO Partners to enable your team through IT infrastructure and tooling e.g. Snowflake, Dataiku, Tableau, Google
  • Support stakeholders to self-serve through a variety of tools e.g. Tableau and other enablement tools
  • Lead your team, their projects and their personal development through empowerment and support
  • Be a leader in the running of the wider DI&A team
  • Work effectively with 3rd party agencies as required
  • Instil a culture of managing risk and compliance with the use of all data, to comply with legislation and JLP’s policies
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends and emerging capabilities and understand how they could add value to the Partnership.
  • Relevant qualification and/or extensive knowledge and experience of various analytical techniques
  • Experience of leading teams using Cloud/Python/SQL/Tableau and building their capability
  • Proven experience of driving value from advanced analytics
  • Track record of having personal impact and influence at a senior level
  • Positive behaviours towards colleagues and a motivated approach to work.
  • Experience working with both Research & Insight and Data Management Teams
  • Experience of working with stakeholders where advanced analytics isn’t always front of mind
  • Track record of ensuring value generated is built in a sustainable way
  • An understanding of external data sources.
