Job summary

Avara Foods Ltd, a leading UK supplier of chicken and turkey products, is hiring a Hatchery Operative. No experience is required as full training is provided to help move eggs through storage, incubation and hatching stages.

You will work Monday to Saturday, 08:00–18:00, on a 6-week rotation, handling eggs, checking conditions, and maintaining bio-security on site. On-site parking and a guaranteed weekly pay are available as part of a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Good level of English and basic numeracy skills.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
• Attention to detail and a flexible attitude to tasks.
• Previous experience is desirable, but not essential as full training is provided.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in the effective movement of eggs from storage to incubating machines and then to hatching machine.
• Moving 10kg trays of eggs into the egg trolleys.
• Checking if there is anything wrong with the eggs.
• Moving eggs from incubating machines to hatching machines effectively.
• Cleaning all equipment after use to the required high standards
• Safeguarding bio security and following these strict procedures
• Observing bird welfare and health and safety on site at all times

About the role

As a Hatchery Operative, working as part of the Hatchery Team, you’ll help assist the hatchery and play a key role in the daily duties which are fundamental to our entire business.

• Assisting in the effective movement of eggs from storage to incubating machines and then to hatching machine.
• Moving 10kg trays of eggs into the egg trolleys.
• Checking if there is anything wrong with the eggs.
• Moving eggs from incubating machines to hatching machines effectively.
• Cleaning all equipment after use to the required high standards
