Job summary

Avara Foods is recruiting a Hatchery Operative to support the hatchery team in daily duties that keep the business running. You will assist in moving eggs through the process from storage to incubation and hatching, ensuring clean, safe operations and strict biosecurity.

You’ll work Monday–Saturday 08:00-18:00 on a 6 week rotation, with full training provided and overtime opportunities. Avara Foods is an equal opportunities employer and offers free on-site parking.

• Transport eggs from incubating to hatching machines efficiently.
• Clean all equipment after use to required standards.
• Safeguard biosecurity and follow procedures.
• Observe bird welfare and health and safety on site.

About The Role

As a Hatchery Operative, working as part of the Hatchery Team, you’ll help assist the hatchery and play a key role in the daily duties which are fundamental to our entire business.

• Assisting in the effective movement of eggs from storage to incubating machines and then to hatching machine.
• Moving 10kg trays of eggs into the egg trolleys.
• Checking if there is anything wrong with the eggs.
• Moving eggs from incubating machines to hatching machines effectively.
• Cleaning all equipment after use to the required high standards
• Safeguarding bio security and following these strict procedures
• Observing bird welfare and health and safety on site at all times

What are we looking for?

• Previous experience is desirable, but not essential as full training is provided.
