Job summary

Change Grow Live in the UK is seeking a Harm Reduction Outreach Worker to assess and engage service users, ensuring access to the right interventions at the right time and reducing harm. The role is based in Tameside with a 37.5-hour week and a permanent contract.

DBS check is required for the post. You will deliver health promotion, needle/syringe programmes, BBV testing, and training for staff while building robust partnerships with health professionals and community workers.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering harm reduction interventions for alcohol and drugs.
• Ability to build networks with health professionals, statutory officers, and community/voluntary workers.
• In-depth knowledge of drug use, alcohol misuse, or mental health.
• Ability to engage clients unwilling to participate with services with confidence and patience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently, but also contribute to a team.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Harm Reduction Outreach Workerwho has the skills and experience to assess and engage with our service users, ensuring that they access the right intervention at the right time, in a way that best meets their needs and can reduce harm

Full Time Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Contract Type: Permanent

Full-time hours at Change Grow Live are 37.5 hours per week. For part-time roles, the salary and payments will be pro rata based on contracted hours.

Responsibilities

About the Role

• Ensure that Health Promotion and Harm Reduction messages are integrated throughout the local recovery services.
• Deliver effective harm reduction services, including the provision of needle and syringe programme, testing for blood borne virus and access to treatment for blood borne viruses and injecting related injuries/complications.
• Do design and deliver workforce development and training across multiple alcohol and drug awareness domains to specialist staff in the local services and the wider workforce as needed
• Lead the development and production of alcohol and drug-related resources for service users, at-risk groups including young people, people who identify as LGBTQIU, older people, the wider workforce, and the general public to reduce harm, raise awareness and promote services, liaising closely with Public Health Specialists, Commissioners, and Health Promotion colleagues across the region to ensure joined-up working.
• Contribute to Public Health initiatives and campaigns via all relevant strategic and implementation groups.
• Ensure that best practice is adhered to in relation to safeguarding children and adults at risk.
• Meet all monitoring and reporting requirements.
• Take responsibility for personal development and participate in regular supervision and appraisal.

About You

• Experience of delivering harm reduction interventions for both alcohol and drugs in one to one and group work settings
• Ability to build and maintain networks and effective working relationships with a full range of health professionals, statutory officers, and community/voluntary workers
• In-depth knowledge of at least one of the following: drug use, alcohol misuse, mental health
• The ability to work with confidence and patience with clients unwilling to engage with services and those that exhibit challenging behaviour
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently, but also to contribute to team working
