Job summary

A Senior HWIL engineer in Stevenage will join the Hardware-in-the-Loop Team to design, test and integrate RF hardware with real-time simulations. The role involves collaborating with multiple disciplinary teams to extend capabilities for indoor missile simulations.

The ideal candidate has broad engineering experience with RF and systems, plus familiarity with Linux and optionally C++ and Raspberry Pi integration.

Qualifications

• Broad engineering experience with deeper experience in several RF and system areas.
• Exposure to real-time simulations and hardware-in-the-loop development is desirable.
• Familiarity with Linux and C/C++ is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain RF equipment for HWIL simulations.
• Collaborate across RF, electronics and software to enable new capabilities.
• Produce RF targets for missiles, conduct testing, perform root-cause analysis.

Skillset/experience required:

Broad engineering experience with deeper experience in some of the following skill areas:

• Radio Frequency design or testing


• System performance analysis


• Interface debugging and system integration


• Software design requirements


• System design for Real Time applications


• Familiarity with Linux operating system


• Familiarity with computer science (C++ an advantage)


• Integration of microcontrollers in RF hardware (eg Raspberry Pi)

The Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) team conduct the most complete test of missiles other than a firing and Missile test track. We design complex, Real Time simulations that surround real missile hardware to allow us to 'fire missiles indoors'.

Responsibilities:

As a HWIL engineer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining new and existing RF equipment and working with multi-disciplinary teams to combine RF, electronics engineering and software development to produce new capabilities that enable HWIL to run new simulations - Produce new RF targets for missiles to track, simulated ECM. testing, root cause analysis, design, development, integration.
