MBDA in Stevenage is seeking analytical engineers to join their Hardware In The Loop (HWIL) team. The role involves conducting dynamic missile firing simulations and supporting missile product development and performance validation.
The ideal candidate will have experience in real-time software design and an understanding of missile sub-systems. The position offers a hybrid working arrangement with operational responsibilities that include real-world missile hardware testing and analysis.
We are looking for analytical engineers to deliver the MBDA Hardware In The Loop mission statement; "To provide operational confidence through world‑class, closed loop missile performance testing".
Salary: Up to £46,000 depending on experience.
Dynamic (hybrid) working: Predominately on-site (Stevenage) due to workload classification and nature of testing.
Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship.
Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Security Check (SC).
You will join the Hardware In The Loop (HWIL) team who conduct dynamic missile firing simulations, utilising real missile hardware in support of product development, performance validation and firing trial preparation.
You will have the opportunity to work within a state‑of‑the‑art test and evaluation facility, unique within the UK. The HWIL testing utilises real missile hardware, a missile performance model, flight motion tables (to pitch/roll/yaw the hardware) and RF / IR target generation systems (to represent target(s)). This dynamic testing is controlled by a HWIL developed simulation which runs real‑time.
This test and evaluation set‑up allows HWIL to conduct missile testing across many MBDA products in as close to real world scenarios as possible, exercising missile functionalities such as in‑flight performance, target detection, acquisition and homing.
Your job role may vary with the lifecycle of the missile products you are supporting. Your overall aim will be to integrate, understand and maintain highly complex simulations, and utilise these to perform missile testing and data analysis – all in support of missile product development.
