Job summary

MERITUS is seeking a Senior HWIL Engineer in Stevenage to design and implement real-time RF simulations that surround missile hardware, enabling indoor testing of missiles.

The role is an Inside IR35 contract, onsite four days per week, offering £55 per hour in a defence environment and the opportunity to contribute to advanced RF and system design projects.

Qualifications

  • RF design or testing experience.
  • Experience with real-time systems.
  • Familiarity with Linux.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain RF equipment and HWIL simulations.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to integrate RF, electronics and software.
  • Create RF targets and simulated ECM for missile tests.
  • Analyze missile behaviour and simulation results.

SENIOR ENGINEER (HARDWARE IN THE LOOP) - INSIDE IR35 - £55 PER HOUR - 4 DAYS A WEEK ONSITE - STEVENAGE - 6 MONTHS (VERY LIKELY TO EXTEND) - RF / SYSTEMS DESIGN - SECTOR: DEFENCE

MERITUS are recruiting for a Senior Engineer to join the HWIL (Hardware in the Loop) team at a sovereign defence manufacturer as they continue growing their RF, Systems Performance and Design services.

The Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) team conduct the most complete test of missiles other than a firing and are our client's Missile test track. We design complex, real-time simulations that surround real missile hardware to allow us to 'fire missiles indoors'.

Responsibilities

As a HWIL engineer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining new and existing RF equipment and working with multi-disciplinary teams to combine RF, electronics engineering and software development to produce new capabilities that enable HWIL to run new simulations - Produce new RF targets for missiles to track, simulated ECM. testing, root cause analysis, design, development, integration.

You will be able to adapt to new engineering situations and be comfortable in abstracting detail in order to understand the simulation and missile's behaviour

Skillset / Experience Required
  • Radio Frequency design or testing
  • System performance analysis
  • Interface debugging and system integration
  • Software design requirements
  • System design for real-time applications
  • Familiarity with Linux operating system
  • Familiarity with computer science (C++ an advantage)
  • Integration of microcontrollers in RF hardware (e.g. Raspberry Pi)
