Job summary

Fortem is recruiting for a Handy Person to join the repairs and maintenance team in Cambridge. You will cover social housing properties across Cambridgeshire, including Cambridge Central, Wisbech, Royston, Duxford and Haverhill, with travel as required.

Core hours are Mon-Fri 8:00–16:30; a company van, fuel card, tools and PPE are provided. Requirements include Level 1 NVQ/City & Guilds in carpentry or plumbing or equivalent by experience, a full UK driving licence (5 points max) and the ability

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 1 NVQ/City & Guilds qualifications or equivalent in core trade such as Carpentry or Plumbing
• OR Qualified by experience will be considered
• Full UK driving licence (Max 5 points) and no recent driving bans
• Must be able to pass basic DBS check
• Desirable: Social Housing experience

Responsibilities

• Complete a range of minor repairs including carpentry and plumbing per specification
• Advise Supervisor and Client when other trades are required
• Work with other operatives to complete projects
• Record and submit accurate data using relevant business systems
• Provide excellent customer service to tenants and clients
• Arrange purchase of materials needed to deliver works efficiently
• Comply with safeguarding policy and H&S standards
• Use PDA to update progress daily
• Operate within company road risk policies

Due to continued successful growth, We have a new permanent opportunity to join our Fortem repairs and maintenance team at Cambridge Housing Society as a Handy Person/TradeThe Handyperson will be responsible for most aspects of property maintenance and repairs to Social Housing Properties covering a patch across Cambridgeshire which include Cambridge Central, and a patch that covers Wisbech, Royston, Duxford, Haverhill and surrounding area so travel is essential.Core Hours are Monday-Friday 8.00am-4.30pm - Work Van, Fuel card Tools provided!

Cambridge Housing Society is one of our long term partnerships. We are responsible for all repairs and maintenance of their social housing properties which cover the Cambridgeshire region Head office is based in Central Cambridge and the patch includes surrounding areas from Wisbech, Royston and Haverhill.There are nearly 3,000 properties, mostly houses and flats, and we look after a range of work including Repairs, Voids, Cyclical Works and Planned workstreamsWe are currently rated as 4.5 on Glassdoor and 93% of staff would recommend to a friend!

Duties and Responsibilities

• Completing a range of minor repairs including carpentry and plumbing work for social housing properties as per the specification, working in a timely and productive manner with specific turnaround deadlines.
• Advising Supervisor and Client in a timely manner when other trades are required
• Working in partnership with other operatives to complete projects.
• Recording and submitting accurate data using relevant business systems electronic devices.
• Affording excellent customer service to client representatives and tenants.
• Arranging purchase of materials required to deliver the works in a planned and efficient manner.
• Comply with safeguarding policy and H&S standards at all times.
• Operating within the company’s occupational road risk policies and procedures
• Using a PDA smart phone to correspond daily with colleagues to update progress and completion information for your allocated work.

What you will need

• Minimum Level 1 NVQ/City & Guilds qualifications or equivalent in core trade such as Carpentry or Plumbing / OR Qualified by experience will be considered
• Full UK driving license (Max 5 points) and no recent driving bans
• Must be able to pass basic DBS checkDesirable but not essential:
