Job summary

Orbital Recruitment in Derby is seeking an experienced Engineering Workshop Bench Hand to join the team. You will support CNC and patternmaking operations, preparing materials for CNC machining and performing hand-finishing on machined components.

The role involves using woodworking and general workshop machinery, assisting CNC machinists and patternmakers, and ensuring finished work meets quality and safety standards in a busy workshop environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in engineering/manufacturing or patternmaking workshop.
• Confident using woodworking machinery and hand tools.
• Experience preparing and finishing machined components.
• Good practical skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Preparing materials and stock ready for CNC machining.
• Hand finishing, fettling and cleaning up machined components.
• Using woodworking and general workshop machinery.
• Supporting CNC machinists and patternmakers with day-to-day production.
• Checking finished work for quality and accuracy.
• Keeping the workshop organised and working safely around machinery.
