Job summary
Tembo, the UK’s leading consumer mortgage platform, is seeking a highly hands-on Tech Lead. You’ll design, build, and ship core backend systems powering mortgage and savings products.
You will own significant parts of the codebase, drive technical direction, and collaborate closely with the CTO, CPO, and Senior Product Manager to translate business problems into robust technical solutions. Qualifications
- Significant experience building and operating production backend systems.
- Experience leading the technical delivery of complex projects while remaining hands-on.
- Designing and owning production systems end-to-end with architectural responsibility.
- Strong experience with Ruby on Rails or a similar backend framework.
Responsibilities
- Build and ship critical backend systems powering Tembo’s mortgage and savings platform.
- Own the codebase: improve structure, reduce debt, and ensure maintainability as the company scales.
- Lead technical execution: translate product priorities into actionable technical plans and milestones.
- Own systems end‑to‑end: data modelling, deployment, monitoring, reliability and performance.
