SPT Labtech in the Cambridgeshire area is seeking a hands-on IT Manager to build, run, and maintain the systems our business relies on. This is a newly created role reporting to the IT Director and serving as the technical owner of networks, servers and the Microsoft 365 environment.

You will guide a small support team, set technical standards, and shape how our infrastructure grows, with scope to improve security, efficiency and service delivery across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience maintaining networks, servers and Microsoft 365 environments.
• Experience owning a helpdesk or service desk function with queue management, SLAs and escalation protocols.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPN configuration, switch management and fault diagnosis.

Responsabilités

• Set team standards, SLAs and escalation protocols for the operations team.
• Report operational performance to the IT Director: queue metrics, SLA adherence, volume trends and team capacity.
• Own helpdesk queue management, ensuring tickets are triaged, routed and resolved within agreed timeframes.
• Own asset management, user lifecycle (starters, leavers and role changes) and day-to-day M365 administration.
• Oversee procurement of hardware and peripherals, and own IT documentation: SOPs, FAQs and user guides.
• Provide hands-on networking support: connectivity issues, VPN faults, switch-level troubleshooting and network access management.
• Support server and infrastructure maintenance alongside the Cyber Security Engineer, with knowledge transfer to build depth over time.
• Own day-to-day security operations: policy enforcement, MFA compliance, endpoint compliance, antivirus alert triage and phishing simulation programme.
• Maintain user access and permissions across all systems, applying least privilege principles.
• Support and mentor a small team (Support Engineer and IT Technician) through regular 1:1s and development conversations.
