Job summary

Sodexo is seeking an experienced Chef Manager in Tingley to lead the day-to-day catering operation, supervise a team, and uphold high standards of food quality, safety and customer satisfaction. The role combines hands-on leadership with financial awareness and excellent service delivery.

The successful candidate will have strong catering leadership experience, solid food safety knowledge, and the ability to manage stock, records and relationships with clients.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a catering team in a busy operation.
• Strong knowledge of food safety and health & safety.
• Experience supervising and motivating catering staff.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards.
• Good organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and make decisions during service periods.
• MS Office knowledge (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Relevant catering qualification such as NVQ Level 2/3, City & Guilds, HND or similar.
• Intermediate Food Safety qualification.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily catering operation and lead the team during service.
• Supervise, support and motivate catering staff.
• Maintain strong client and customer relationships.
• Ensure food is prepared, cooked, stored and served in line with food safety standards.
• Manage menus, recipes and portions.
• Control stock levels, ordering, waste and food costs.
• Complete regular stock takes and financial reporting.
• Ensure opening, closing and handover procedures are followed.
• Attend team briefings, meetings and training as required.
• Identify and report service, safety or performance issues to management.
