Job summary

University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Specialist Biomedical Scientist for the Haematology and Blood Transfusion sections. You will rotate across Haematology and Transfusion, handling a range of diagnostic tests and contributing to a high-quality, patient-centered service.

The role requires HCPC registration, an accredited BSc in Biomedical Science, and ideally the IBMS Specialist Portfolio.

Qualifications

• Essential: Completed Accredited BSc in Biomedical Science
• Essential: Registration with HCPC
• Essential: IBMS specialist portfolio or equivalent post graduate knowledge
• Desirable: MSc in Biomedical Science or equivalent area of specialty
• Experience in Haematology/Coagulation/Transfusion is essential
• Experience in UKAS ISO 15189 and MHRA approved lab is essential
• Experience working shifts over a 24/7 period is essential

Responsibilities

• Interpreting test results at bench level with accuracy
• Maintain high standards of quality and safety in Haematology and Transfusion
• Rotate through Haematology and Transfusion sections and participate in 24/7 shift system
