Job summary

University Hospitals Dorset is seeking a Specialist Biomedical Scientist for the Haematology and Blood Transfusion sections. The post is Band 6, based at Royal Bournemouth Hospital with cross-site work at Poole, on a 37.5-hour full-time contract.

The role requires HCPC registration, with rotation through Haematology, Coagulation and Transfusion. Opportunities exist to pursue IBMS Specialist Portfolio with support for CPD within a nationally recognised lab.

Qualifications

• BSc in Biomedical Science and HCPC registration as a BMS.
• IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Haematology and Transfusion or equivalent experience at Band 6.
• Evidence of Continual Professional Development (CPD) and willingness to develop further.

Responsibilities

• Rotate through all sections of the Haematology and Blood Transfusion department.
• Participate in the 24/7 shift system.
• Work at The Royal Bournemouth Hospital with cross-site rotations to Poole on rotation.
• Maintain checks and accuracy in diagnostic testing and reporting.
