Job summary

Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust is seeking a Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join the Haematology and Transfusion team. The role requires HCPC registration, at least two years post-registration laboratory experience, and IBMS Specialist Portfolio or equivalent.

The post is Band 6 and permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week). The successful candidate will work during the transition to a new LIMS and will be experienced with Haematology and Transfusion practice, with knowledge of

Qualifications

• BSc (Hons) or equivalent in Biomedical Sciences.
• Registration with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Biomedical Scientist.
• Evidence of continuing professional development.
• Possession of the IBMS Specialist Portfolio or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing reliable analytical data in Haematology and Transfusion.
• Work as part of a Biomedical Science team to deliver a patient-centred service.
• Supervise and train laboratory staff when required.
• Deputise for Senior Biomedical Scientists as required.
• Provide specialist advice to clinicians on tests and timelines.
• Contribute to departmental quality standards and regulatory compliance.
• Demonstrate specialist Haematology/Blood Transfusion knowledge through two years of HCPC registered experience.
