Job summary

Viasat is seeking an Engineer to configure, operate and manage resources on the GX satellite fleet from a site-based location in the UK. You will monitor traffic commitments, perform trend analyses and recommend satellite reconfigurations to optimise network performance.

Strong RF knowledge and VSAT experience are essential. The role involves cross-functional collaboration with NOC, RAN Ops and Lease teams, occasional out-of-hours support, and a focus on delivering reliable satellite

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent in Mobile Communications/Telematics or Mobile and Satellite Communications.
• Strong understanding of VSAT systems (including iDirect and Gilat).
• Solid grounding in analogue and digital communications, including link budget analysis and transmission planning.
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks, with effective communication at all levels.
• Strong PC skills including MS Office, Server-Client Architectures, Windows/Linux and databases.

Responsibilities

• Configure and operate GX Planning Software Tools to monitor network resource usage and commitments.
• Prepare satellite configurations and frequency planning changes to meet traffic demand.
• Collaborate with GX Satellite Resource Engineers and Traffic Resource Analysts to automate traffic reports.
• Interact with Business Units to assess network capability for future traffic and potential sales.
• Coordinate with NOC, RAN Operations, Satellite Control Centre and Lease Operation teams for configuration changes.
