Job summary

Alexander Daniels is recruiting an Internal Audit Manager or ambitious Assistant Manager to help build the Birmingham office. You will lead a diverse portfolio across public sector, not-for-profit and corporate clients, delivering high-quality internal audit work with practical risk and controls recommendations.

You will report to the Internal Audit Director, coach junior staff, support recruitment, manage budgets and fees, and help win new clients. Willingness to travel may be required.

Qualifications

• CIA/ACA qualification or equivalent.
• Experience managing internal audit clients across public sector, not-for-profit or corporate environments.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport at all levels.
• Collaborative, people-focused mindset with a genuine interest in developing others.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
• Ambition to progress to senior roles; suitable for Manager or Assistant Manager.
• Willingness to travel when required.

Responsibilities

• Lead, plan and deliver a broad range of internal audit engagements.
• Report directly to the Internal Audit Director and support the Birmingham office growth.
• Coach, mentor and develop junior team members into risk and control specialists.
• Support recruitment activity as the team expands.
• Manage budgets, agreeing fees and ensure assignments run smoothly.
• Build strong client relationships and deliver high-quality, value-adding service.
• Contribute to business development activity across sectors.
• Provide clients with practical advice and sector best practice beyond core audit essentials.
