Job summary

Project 6 in Bradford is seeking a Group Worker to directly engage with service users in one-to-one group settings to address alcohol/drug use and related issues.

You will support individuals and families in the community, signpost to other services, and help build social capital while promoting recovery, wellbeing, and independent living.

Responsibilities

• Review and assess the needs of service users recovering from alcohol or drug problems within a variety of settings.
• Work closely with Recovery Coordinators and Group Workers to promote aftercare and engagement in the recovery journey.
• Actively seek out opportunities to enhance people’s social capital.
• Support service users to improve general health, including diet and personal hygiene.
• Assist with housing, benefits, community services and budgeting to improve social situations.
• Help remove barriers to accessing treatment and support services.
• Engage with service users in a person-centred and trauma-informed way to encourage change.
• Support access to appropriate treatment and recovery services.
• Keep accurate and confidential records and maintain a timetable of events.
• Produce documents and reports to support the role and attend meetings with staff and partners.

Purpose of the Job

• To directly intervene with people who use our services in a one-to-one group setting to help them to address their problematic alcohol/drug use or other specific issues.
• To provide support in the community for individuals and families with the aim of helping them to make the positive lifestyle changes that will aid their recovery.
• To support and signpost individuals and families to engage with other supportive services.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• To review and assess the needs of service users recovering from alcohol or drug problems within a variety of settings.
• To work closely and effectively with Recovery Coordinators andGroupWorkers to promote aftercare and encourage continued engagement in their recovery journey.
• To actively seek out new opportunities to help enhance people’s social capital.
• To support service users to improve general health, including dietary needs, personal hygiene.
• To support service users to improve their social situation, including assistance with housing, benefits, accessing community services and budgeting.
• To work with service users to remove any structural and social barriers to accessing treatment services.
• To work with people in a person-centred and trauma informed way, encouraging self-development and motivation for change.
• To support individuals and families to access appropriate treatment and recovery services.
• Keep accurate and confidential records.
• To create, maintain and monitor a working timetable of events which will support and encourage people to engage with the service and wider community.
• Produce relevant documents and reports in support of the role.
• Attend and contribute to meetings with other staff and partners.
