Job summary

Accountable Recruitment are partnered with a growing organisation near Chester seeking an experienced Group Management Accountant to own the month-end process and support the wider finance function.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will lead a small team, perform detailed variance analysis, VAT returns, and ensure robust accounting across the business in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• ACA/ ACCA/ CIMA qualified or QBE with experience in mid-to-large organisations.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and close month-end involvement.
• Advanced Excel skills and ability to work with complex formulas.
• Proven experience with process improvements and financial controls.
• Excellent organisation and stakeholder communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts through to review stage with Finance Manager.
• Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations and post journals.
• Maintain fixed asset register and accounting records.
• Produce month-end reports with variance analysis.
• Prepare VAT returns and oversee AP/AR ledgers.
• Assist with cost centre reviews, budgeting, and controls.
• Support external audits and respond to auditor queries.
• Act as a link between senior finance stakeholders and the wider team.
• Handle internal stakeholder queries and communicate financial information.
• Manage a small finance team.
