Group Finance Manager - M&A Focus

£70k - £75k + Bonus and Benefits

Central London - Hybrid working, 2/3 days in office

Are you a technically strong and detail-oriented ACA qualified accountant looking for a high-impact role within a rapidly expanding, private equity-backed services business? Do you thrive in a dynamic environment driven by significant M&A activity? If so, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!

Our client, a fast-growing services group in Central London, backed by a leading private equity firm, is undergoing an exciting period of expansion through an ambitious buy-and-build strategy, completing at least one acquisition per month. They are seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient Group Finance Manager to play a crucial role in supporting this growth. This role offers a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of integrating new businesses and ensuring consistent accounting policies across the expanding group.

While this role suits someone straight from practice, exceptional candidates with relevant industry experience will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be a key point of contact and provide technical accounting support for the integration of newly acquired businesses.
  • Focus on acquisition accounting and the smooth onboarding of new entities into the group.
  • Develop a deep understanding of revenue recognition principles, particularly in the context of project accounting and long-term contracts.
  • Apply your knowledge of cash accounting principles, especially relevant to businesses with service maintenance and project-based revenue streams.
  • Play a key role in the pre- and post-acquisition accounting processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
  • Lead on technical accounting matters, navigating complexities and ensuring adherence to accounting standards.
  • Oversee and manage accounting for leases across the group.
  • Take ownership of aligning accounting policies across the group, working collaboratively with divisional Financial Directors (FDs) and Financial Controllers (FCs).
  • Provide group finance skills and understanding while maintaining an eye for detail.
  • Contribute to the preparation of consolidated financial statements.
  • Support the external audit process, leveraging your experience of auditing buy-and-build businesses.

About You:

  • You are a fully ACA qualified accountant, ideally coming straight from practice with a strong technical grounding. Candidates with relevant industry experience will also be considered.
  • You possess a strong understanding of technical accounting principles and a keen eye for detail.
  • You have experience of auditing businesses with complex structures, ideally including buy-and-build models.
  • You have a solid understanding of pre- and post-acquisition accounting considerations.
  • You are familiar with revenue recognition principles for project accounting and long-term contracts.
  • Exposure to cash accounting and the nuances of accounting for service maintenance and project-based businesses is highly desirable.
  • You possess a strong group finance skill set and understand the principles of consolidation.
  • You are proactive, highly organised, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, M&A-driven environment.
  • You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with finance teams across different entities.
  • You are eager to learn and contribute to the growth of a dynamic organisation.

What's On Offer:

  • A competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
  • The opportunity to be at the heart of a significant buy-and-build strategy within a private equity-backed business.
  • Unparalleled experience in acquisition accounting and business integration.
  • A fast-paced and challenging environment with significant opportunities for growth and development.
  • The chance to work closely with divisional finance teams and senior leadership.
  • A dynamic and supportive work culture in Central London.
