Job summary

Starting Point Recruitment in Birmingham is seeking a Group Finance Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day finance function across the group. You will report to the Group CFO and provide accurate reporting, strong controls and timely insights for multiple businesses.

This hands-on role offers career progression toward senior finance leadership within a growing SME group, with collaboration across commercial and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

• AAT Level 4 qualification or strong Qualified by Experience (QBE) background.
• At least five years’ experience in a Finance Manager, Management Accountant or similar finance role.
• Experience producing Management Accounts.
• Strong payroll knowledge, including weekly and monthly payroll.
• Excellent reconciliation and financial reporting skills.
• Strong Microsoft Excel and accounting software experience.
• The confidence to work independently while building effective relationships across the business.
• A proactive, commercially aware mindset with a desire to develop your career.
• Experience within recruitment, professional services or a multi-company environment would be advantageous but is not essential.

Responsibilities

• Producing monthly Management Accounts across multiple Group businesses.
• Managing Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger and General Ledger activities.
• Completing bank, ledger, stock and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Managing weekly temporary payroll and monthly salaried payroll.
• Preparing cashflow forecasts, payroll forecasts and departmental budgets.
• Supporting contract-specific financial forecasting.
• Preparing VAT returns and supporting year-end processes.
• Managing procurement, supplier relationships and financial controls.
• Working alongside the Group CFO on commercial analysis, strategic projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

About the Role
