Responsibilities

• Leading month-end and year-end processes from start to finish, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
• Producing management accounts, board packs and financial reporting for senior stakeholders.
• Overseeing budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis to sharpen commercial decision-making.
• Business partnering with department heads and operational managers — providing insight, challenge and support.
• Managing balance sheet reconciliations, journals, accruals and prepayments.
• Preparing statutory accounts and acting as a key point of contact for external auditors.
• Reviewing and strengthening internal financial controls, processes and reporting.
• Managing, mentoring and developing a small finance team.
• Driving process improvements and contributing to finance systems development.

A well-established and highly regarded business services group based near Shrewsbury is looking to appoint a Finance Manager to join its senior finance team. This is a broad, hands-on role with genuine scope to shape how the finance function operates — the kind of position where your input will be visible, valued and quickly felt across the wider business.

What you'll be doing:

• Leading month-end and year-end processes from start to finish, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery

What we're looking for:

• Qualified or finalist ACCA, CIMA or ACA
• Strong all-round finance experience gained in a commercial or business services environment
• Confident with month-end, statutory reporting and management accounts production
• Solid grounding in UK GAAP and current financial reporting standards
• Advanced Excel skills, plus experience working with mid-tier or enterprise finance systems
• Commercially minded — able to look beyond the numbers and add real strategic value
• Strong communication skills, comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels
• Well organised, deadline-driven and calm under pressure
• Prior experience managing or mentoring team members would be an advantage
