Job summary

Search Consultancy is seeking skilled Groundworkers to join civil engineering and residential projects across Gateshead and the surrounding Tyne & Wear area. You’ll handle drainage, slab and kerb laying, foundations and concrete works, plus safe operation of plant on site.

With CSCS/CPCS/NPORS where applicable, you’ll show a strong track record in groundworks, be committed to reliable attendance, and hold full right to work in the UK. CIS payroll and consistent weekly pay are offered.

Qualifications

• CSCS Green (General Operative) or Blue Skilled Card (Groundworks) is required.
• Verifiable civils, commercial or housing groundworks experience.
• Full 5-point PPE and standard hand tools are expected.

Responsibilities

• Drainage & pipe laying including foul and surface water drainage, manholes and backfilling trenches.
• Slab and kerb laying with precise concrete/paving work and edging.
• Foundations and concrete works including shuttering and reinforcement.
• Operate plant equipment safely where ticketed (dumper/roller/excavator).
• Maintain site health and safety and follow RAMS and risk assessments.

Pay Structure:

CIS (Self-Employed / UTR Required)

Search Consultancy is looking for skilled, experienced Groundworkers to join active civil engineering and residential site projects across Gateshead and the surrounding Tyneside area. We are partnering with established main contractors and groundworks sub-contractors requiring reliable operatives for ongoing deep drainage, slab laying, kerbing, and foundation works.

If you have a valid CSCS card, full PPE, a valid UTR for CIS payments, and a strong track record in groundworks, we have immediate starts available.

The Role & Responsibilities

Drainage & Pipe Laying:

Laying foul and surface water drainage, installing manholes, inspection chambers, and backfilling trenches.

Slab & Kerb Laying:

Precision laying of concrete/paving slabs, block paving, high kerbs, pin kerbs, and edgings.

Foundations & Concrete:

Shuttering, placing steel reinforcement, pouring and finishing concrete footings, oversites, and floor slabs.

Plant Operation (if ticketed):

Operating Forward Tipping Dumpers, Ride-on Rollers, or Excavators safely under site supervision.

Site Health & Safety:

Working safely around plant/machinery and adhering strictly to site risk assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).

Requirements & Qualifications

CSCS / CPCS / NPORS:

Valid CSCS Green (General Operative) or Blue Skilled Card (Groundworks). CPCS/NPORS for Dumper/Roller or 360 Excavator is highly advantageous.

Experience:

Verifiable experience in civils, commercial, or housing site groundworks.

Tools & PPE:

Full 5-point PPE (hard hat, high-vis vest/jacket, steel toe-cap boots, safety glasses, gloves) and standard hand tools.

Reliability:

Physical fitness for heavy site work, reliable attendance, and valid UK driving licence (beneficial for site access).

Compliance:

Must hold full right to work in the UK.
