Job summary

Search Consultancy in Northumberland seeks skilled groundworkers for ongoing civil engineering and housing site projects across Northumberland. You will contribute to deep drainage, slab laying, kerbing and foundations, with opportunities on multiple sites and immediate starts for the right cards and PPE.

The role requires valid CSCS/CPCS/NPORS, full PPE, and a clean UK work history; a driving licence is beneficial for regional access.

Qualifications

• Valid CSCS Green (General Operative) or Blue Skilled Card (Groundworks) or equivalent.
• Experience in civils, commercial, or housing site groundworks.
• Full 5-point PPE and standard hand tools.
• Must have right to work in the UK.
• UK driving licence is beneficial for site access.

Responsibilities

• Drainage and pipe laying including manholes and backfilling trenches.
• Slab and kerb laying with concrete/paving slabs and edging.
• Foundations and concrete work including shuttering and reinforcement.
• Operate plant such as dumper, roller, or excavator if ticketed.
• Maintain site safety and follow RAMS.

Job description

Location: Northumberland (Blyth / Morpeth / Ashington areas)

Search Consultancy is looking for skilled, experienced Groundworkers to join active civil engineering and residential site projects across Northumberland. We are partnering with established main contractors and groundworks sub-contractors requiring reliable operatives for ongoing deep drainage, slab laying, kerbing, and foundation works.

If you have a valid CSCS/CPCS/NPORS card, full PPE, a valid UTR for CIS payments, and a strong track record in groundworks, we have immediate starts available.

The Role & Responsibilities

Drainage & Pipe Laying: Laying foul and surface water drainage, installing manholes, inspection chambers, and backfilling trenches.

Slab & Kerb Laying: Precision laying of concrete/paving slabs, block paving, high kerbs, pin kerbs, and edgings.

Foundations & Concrete: Shuttering, placing steel reinforcement, pouring and finishing concrete footings, oversites, and floor slabs.

Plant Operation (if ticketed): Operating Forward Tipping Dumpers, Ride-on Rollers, or Excavators safely under site supervision.

Site Health & Safety: Working safely around plant/machinery and adhering strictly to site risk assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).

Requirements & Qualifications

CSCS / CPCS / NPORS: Valid CSCS Green (General Operative) or Blue Skilled Card (Groundworks). CPCS/NPORS for Dumper/Roller or 360 Excavator is highly advantageous.

Experience: Verifiable experience in civils, commercial, or housing site groundworks.

Tools & PPE: Full 5-point PPE (hard hat, high-vis vest/jacket, steel toe-cap boots, safety glasses, gloves) and standard hand tools.

Reliability: Physical fitness for heavy site work, reliable attendance, and valid UK driving licence (beneficial for site access across the region).

Compliance: Must hold full right to work in the UK.
