Job summary

Arup in Leeds is offering an Industrial Placement in Ground Engineering. You will assess site constraints, model ground conditions and contribute to early-stage design for foundations, earthworks and tunnels.

The role targets graduates in Ground / Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering, with opportunities across water, energy, rail and highways projects. Start date 1 September 2027; the Early Careers team supports development. Eligibility notes apply.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in relevant academic discipline, such as Ground / Geotechnical Engineering and Civil Engineering.
• No specific requirement for skills and experience.
• Core attributes: adaptability, growth mindset and collaborative working.

Responsibilities

• Assessing site constraints, geological hazards and ground conditions to shape projects at early stages.
• Analysing ground investigation data to derive ground models and parameters for use in design.
• Representing Arup on site during ground investigations, earthworks and other construction activities.
• Delivering Total Design by working closely with other disciplines to provide integrated project solutions.
• Written and verbal communication during all stages of projects, from optioneering through to detailed design.
