Job summary

Sainsbury's is recruiting a Customer Delivery Driver to bring groceries to customers’ homes with a friendly and reliable service. You will drive a 3.5 tonne refrigerated van, perform basic vehicle checks and follow planned routes to ensure orders arrive on time and in good condition.

You’ll interact with customers to handle queries, provide updates, and may help in-store tasks when not delivering. A valid UK driving licence and a customer-first attitude are essential.

Qualifications

• Friendly and welcoming with a genuine enthusiasm for helping customers and pride in delivering a great doorstep experience.
• Comfortable driving a larger vehicle safely across various locations and road types.
• Capable of moving shopping containers up to 15 kg repeatedly.
• Able to use initiative and make safe decisions while on the road.
• Enjoys working independently and as part of the store team.
• Flexible and willing to work across the store and take on new challenges.
• Eager to learn and use route/delivery technology to improve service.
• Willing to adapt to changing delivery schedules and customer needs.

Responsibilities

• Be the face of Sainsbury’s at customer doors with a friendly, helpful delivery service.
• Drive a 3.5 tonne refrigerated van to deliver groceries on time and in good condition.
• Carry out vehicle checks to ensure roadworthiness, cleanliness and order accuracy.
• Follow planned routes and drive safely in various conditions.
• Handle containers up to 15 kg and deliver to properties with possible stairs or lifts.
• Keep customers informed about delays and handle queries or changes to orders.
• Assist in-store tasks when not delivering.
