Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Graduate Mathematical Modeller to join our flood risk, water resources and environmental engineering teams across the UK and internationally. You will apply advanced modelling techniques to support strategic decisions and sustainable infrastructure.

As a graduate you will receive mentoring, a three-year early careers program, and training to progress toward Chartership. This hybrid role offers exposure to industry-leading tools and real-world projects.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mathematics, Civil Engineering, Hydrology or Geophysics obtained no earlier than 2025 (or expected).
• Showing genuine interest in the opportunity and in joining Mott MacDonald through relevant modules, work or research.
• Willingness to join a long-term relationship and complete graduate development programme.

Responsibilities

• Hydrodynamic and water quality modelling using standard packages and CFD tools.
• Data analysis to uncover patterns and inform environmental decisions.
• Develop scripts in Python or R to automate workflows and explore advanced techniques.
• Build drainage and river network models and support sustainable solutions.
• Collaborate with engineers, planners and asset managers to deliver high-impact outcomes.
• Receive mentoring and training toward Chartership and technical specialisation.
