Job summary

Gateley Smithers Purslow in Glasgow is inviting applications for a Graduate Structural Engineer. The role supports the Engineering Line Manager on varied projects, from reports and drawings to client liaison and regulatory approvals.

The successful candidate should hold a civil/structural degree (BSc/MSc) and demonstrate strong math, IT and communication skills, with a UK driving licence. A pathway to professional accreditation is encouraged within Gateley Built Environment.

Qualifications

• Must hold a BSc (Hons) and/or MSc (Hons) IStructE or ICE.
• Experience in consulting engineering, surveying, architectural & planning practices.
• Experience working to deadlines and within budgets.
• Sound mathematical, scientific and IT skills.
• The ability to think methodically to problem solve and manage projects.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation.
• Must hold a valid UK Drivers Licence.

Responsibilities

• Prepare reports, calculations, drawings and design work.
• Provide technical advice to clients.
• Obtain planning and/or building regulations approval.
• Monitor and inspect work undertaken by contractors.
• Liaise with architects and other professionals.
• Maintain client relationships and manage expectations.
• Administer contracts and manage projects.
• Inspect and survey client properties and sites.
• Ensure projects comply with CDM2015 and building regulations.
• Assess sustainability and environmental impact of projects.
• Comply with company administrative, personnel procedures and Health & Safety regulations.
