Job summary

Arthian Ltd. in Central Scotland is seeking an enthusiastic engineer to support structural and civil design for buildings and bridges, with site visits and collaboration with clients and contractors.

The role offers opportunities to learn standards and develop professionally while working across diverse projects in the UK. You will assist senior engineers, produce practical design solutions, and gain exposure to design deliverables, calculations and reports.

Qualifications

  • A degree, or expected degree, in Structural or Civil Engineering or an equivalent related degree (Bachelors or Masters)
  • Desire to gain Professional Qualification with the Institution of Structural Engineers or Institution of Civil Engineers
  • Good understanding of engineering fundamentals
  • A willingness to learn and develop professionally
  • Proven teamworking skills
  • Full UK driving license with flexibility to attend client sites

Responsibilities

  • Undertake Structural and Civil engineering design works including buildings and bridges, foundation design and other structural and temporary design
  • Support senior engineers with calculations, reports, drawings and technical documentation
  • Learn and apply relevant standards including British Standards and Eurocodes
  • Produce drawings and sketches for practical, constructable design solutions
  • Undertake site visits including asset inspections and construction support
  • Develop an understanding of construction methods and sequencing
  • Assist in preparing design deliverables for clients and contractors
  • Work collaboratively with engineers, clients and contractors
  • Learn best practice for quality assurance, health & safety compliance and commercial awareness
  • Any other appropriate task

Key Responsibilities

  • The role may require travel (including occasional overnight stays) across the UK and overseas, depending on project requirements
